What to do in the rain...

What person likes the rain...especially cold rain?  That seems to be the worst.  Or, heavy rain, the drops that feel like someone is thumping you in your head in torment.  What about the rain that comes with heavy wind wind? You know, the kind that inverts your umbrella and leaves you trying to desperately pull it back in towards you...The car accidents, the traffic delays...
If you watch kids, they'll play in any kind of weather...snow, extreme heat, high winds and yep...rain!
Kids will run in the rain, jump in puddles, try to catch the rain on their tongues, all types of make believe, however I can enjoy this time kind of attitude is displayed.  The true purpose of the rain is often misunderstood and not appreciated. The true purpose of rain is to water the earth which causes it to grow, and to naturally wash away dirt and garbage.  While kids play in, or long to experience the feeling of a natural water park, the rain is doing its job; causing things to grow, cleaning up debris.

Wish we were still like kids now...not with natural rain, but with life's storms.  Wouldn't it be cool to still play, dance, and jump in the "rain".  Why don't you?  Enjoy the times when it's a little rainy.  Truth is, while you dance, growth is around you and while you play in the puddles life has a tendency to have pooling, things may be washing away from your life that need to be gone and done away with.  Not to be deep, but while you may not like the "rain" natural or metaphorical, it serves a necessary HEALTHY purpose.  So, why not enjoy it and dance in it and let the reason for growth be appreciated?

  1. Great post I never really looked at rain in a positive light.....but now I view it as a cleansing process to say the least. Thank you for opening my eyes to see the positive in a rainy day :)

  2. as i always say: perception is everything. We tend to always look at the negative side of a thing, it's human nature. But look at the beauty too. For it is through rain we see beautiful rainbows and those themselves are promises from God that the rain doesn't last forever.

  3. I love the rain... I sometimes wish i could dance in it or just lay in it. I guess I don't because I'm older now... time has it's way of taking over.. and so does a cold! ugh! :) But on the other side of it... it seems like a "storm" is the hardest time to enjoy your life...definitely food for thought!
