People Watching

Have you ever just watched people..the way they move, they way the walk to and fro?  Have you ever wondered where people are going when they're in a hurry?  How often have you just People watched?  I know, I know...I hear you..."Why would I waste time doing that?"  I find it interesting to see if I can figure out what people are thinking when they move about the day.  I try to read faces and movements.  People say if you go to a restaurant and sit long enough, watching the couples come in, you can see which couples are dating and which ones are actually married.  Generally, the ones that are flirty and more intimate are surprisingly, the ones dating.  The ones that are making uncomfortable small talk are the married couples...maybe they waste all the good convo while on the way to the restaurant.  People watching....I wonder; if people watched you for just one hour in your day, without you being able to verbally express what you were really thinking, would they be able to accurately guess what's on your mind?  Would people be able to correctly guess what you think about you?  Are you happy with your life, job, mate, money?  How well do you mask what you really think about people you don't care for....let's be honest, there are some.  What you don't verbalize, your body language speaks at decibels too obvious to ignore.

If people were made to be mirrors that automatically reflect what you looked like and vice versa, what would you say about the way they look?  Would you wonder what they think about you, would they wonder what you think about them?  Would you both frown at each other, not realizing that you can't stand to see EACH OTHER coming?  People watching can be very entertaining, at times, it can make you appreciate the way your life is.  Next time you're out in the mall or shopping, do it...People watch...and, better yet...watch what you give off unknowingly to people; someone is watching you.

  1. I do this all the time.. Actually my entire life is molded for it. I grew up raised with the Golden rule. Treat others the way you want to be treated and as a effect of that I constantly mirrored myself and still do. Watching my own movements, making sure I am in line with myself, not to be hypocritical. Keeping myself in "check". It led me to watch others.. see if they followed the same rule. I couldn;t imagine anyone not knowing that they are being watched constantly. I learned however, that many people don't pay much attention to the specifics. I catch people in lies often as they are not careful in hiding them, not that they should be, lying is not a strong point to begin with, but it just seemed odd how little a person knew about how they were perceived. I'll admit, being so critical in myself hasn't been the best thing as far as over-obsessing, but I do think it layed a good foundation for myself, and I've developed good character with not only seeing the flaws and strong points inside of me, but actually correcting what's wrong & I continue daily. Good Post Andre!
